This website serves primarily as a communication channel for the B.N.I.A.

The Bayfield-Nares Islanders’ Association (BNIA) is a non-profit organization that represents the cottagers and residents of Nares and Bayfield Inlets.

The area includes the islands and coastal areas of Georgian Bay extending from the Pointe au Baril lighthouse (southern limit), to Charles Inlet (northern limit).

Over 200 cottages, on several hundred islands, are located here.

The BNIA meets annually in July and publishes a Spring and Fall newsletter. Directors are elected annually and meet three times a year to deal with issues affecting the area.

The main functions of the Association are to:

  • keep members informed on a variety of topics: zoning, environmental concerns such as water quality and fishing, services (garbage, telephones, emergency help).
  • provide information to various government and regulatory agencies on topics which affect the members.
  • represent the area and work with other cottagers' associations under the umbrella of the Georgian Bay Association.
  • provide equipment and support to the cottagers and residents in fighting fires.
  • organize the annual regatta marathon canoe race and sailing regatta.
*Members should receive their annual Directory / Yearbook in late May.
